With your child, talk about the properties of different shapes (properties are the rules that identify shapes and tell you how the shape is made).

Support your child/ren to set up a mini-obstacle course and ask them to use ordinal numbers as they complete the actions in order.

After watching the episode, you may like to:

• Ask your child to think about other places where they may have seen these shapes and objects, and continue to talk about shapes and their properties (e.g. number of vertices (corners), sides – with or without equal lengths).
• Compare how many sides and corners different 2D shapes have.
• Look around you and talk about the 3D objects that you can see, asking your child what they notice and how they are different and similar compared to a variety of 2D shapes (they will start to identify that the faces of 3 dimensional objects match 2 dimensional shapes).
• Explore ordinal numbers with your child and talk about why is it important to complete some actions in a certain order (e.g. following a recipe).
