It is photo day for Buster, Prime and the other dogs who attend Puppy School. Will the dogs be able to line up in order of height so that they can all be seen in the photo?  Will the dogs be able to work out how to get into two even groups?

Ideas for using this resource

After watching the episode, you may like to:

  • Ask your child to gather 6 to 10 objects that are different in size (e.g. soft toys; books; pens, pencils and crayons) and order them smallest to tallest, using ordinal numbers
  • Ask your child to put the same objects in order from tallest to smallest and talk about the ordinal numbers they use (support your child to explore how order is dependent on which object is identified as the starting point).

Key ideas: Ordinal numbers are used when arranging objects or events in a sequence. Ordinal numbers answer questions about which one and which position. Order is dependent on which object/event is identified as the starting point.
