As the learning environment continues to evolve, teachers and school leaders continue to work collaboratively to provide support to students at their point of need. Recent evidence indicates that while some students may have thrived and made significant gains in their learning during remote and flexible learning in 2020, disadvantaged and vulnerable students are more likely to have fallen behind when compared with their peers. In response to these emerging needs the Department of Education and Training has offered a range of additional new supports to Victorian schools, including the Tutor Learning Initiative in 2021. This initiative will provide extra individualised support to students most in need as a result of the disrupted learning environment experienced in 2020.
