Ideas for using this resource

Use this resource to engage with dreamtime stories through exciting animations and focus on many key points, from the tradition of oral history and importance of language to the way that modern storytelling techniques (ie. animation) can be used to reach an new generation. Also consider how these representations of Indigenous Australians cover the full range of screen based media – from short and feature length live-action films in the previous resources to animation.

You could listen to one of these stories in a History, English or even Art classroom and have students complete one of the following activities:

  • Use moviemaking software to make their own Dreamtime story that emulates the style of the story they have viewed.
  • Write a descriptive piece that explores what they see, think and wonder about what the story is suggesting.
