The Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) provides teachers with a suite of evidence-based pedagogical tools to support their teaching practice. Through selective use of the VTLM tools teachers can build their professional practice and enhance the student teacher relationships so critical to learning.

The Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) comprises 4 interrelated components through which excellence in teaching practice is articulated:

  • an overarching Vision for Learning which clearly states our moral purpose in education,
  • the Practice Principles, for excellence in teaching and learning,
  • the Pedagogical Model which describes what effective teaching looks like in the classroom and helps teachers enact the principles and strategies known to be most effective, and
  • the High Impact Teaching Strategies that outline 10 instructional practices that reliably increase student learning.
