This package looks at the changing representations of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders in screen based media. It examines how these representations have evolved over time, with a particular focus on contemporary Aboriginal filmmakers and how they are using the language of film to tell their stories.

Ideas for using this resource

This package covers a variety of historical and modern representations of Indigenous Australians, and its activities and resources can be used in English and Media Arts classes. There are many discussion questions and activities included, as well as video resources that can be used to engage with the subject matter.
