All about me, my family and my community

This resource package includes activities to support children and their sense of identity and community. A strong sense of identity enables children to learn about themselves, about others and their world.  Identity is unique to each individual and is closely related to belonging and the sense of feeling included and secure within families, culture and communities that are part of everyday life. Children’s sense of self and identity builds when they make choices, meet and accept new challenges, persevere, communicate their need for comfort and assistance and share aspects of their culture. Children increasingly strive for connection and belonging and through the support of family and others and continue to learn ways to connect and contribute to their world.
